Podcast conversation with Kristín Björnsdóttir.
Iceland is stunning – whether you are in Reykjavík, Seydisfjordur (one of Iceland’s most charming towns), the coast, the glaciers, the islands, or the national parks. Often Americans plan a 5-7 day trip, and with that, it’s impossible to see everything – either scale back your destinations to have a more leisurely pace or give yourself a few more days. If you or your kids are interested in geology – Iceland should definitely be on your bucket list, especially now as you also have the ability to see their volcano that’s been bubbling lava.
We talked about adventures – including snowmobiling on glaciers (can be done year ‘round), 4×4 expeditions to ice caves, waterfalls worth hiking to, riding on Icelandic horses, and the best times to see the Northern Lights.
And we talked about OTT (over the top) ideas like renting an Aston Martin V12 Vanquish (ala James Bond’s Die Another Day movie that was filmed here), helicoptering over the volcano, buying out Deplar Farms to spoil your friends, and renting the Blue Lagoon Suite at the Retreat – with your own private lagoon and spa.
We also touched on Kristin’s favorite hotels and restaurants, including some gems that the locals love.
