WHERE TO NEXT?

Dear Traveler,

I woke up to monkeys howling, but now I just hear the faint sounds of birds in the distance. I watching a hummingbird fluttering from flower to flower, seeking nectar in the Birds of Paradise behind our plunge pool.

The outdoor terrace of our room in Costa Rica is immersed in the lush flora of the rainforest.

We’ve been both active and relaxing – fishing, biking, ziplining and doing yoga. Family poker games, pool and ping pong. Gazing into the trees watching a sloth move faster than we were expecting.

Last night for new years we ventured into town to eat at Pollo Fortuneño, a very casual and vibey place on the main street. I had their speciality cocktail. I’m not sure of the exact name but it was a dragonfruit margarita with an upside down Modelo beer in it. I swapped out the dragonfruit for passionfruit and it was delicious.

We are off to the beach today. Hoping to swap out clouds and rain for sunshine and blue skies!

Last week’s most popular article was the WSJ’s The 10 Best Places to Go in 2025.

This week’s inspirational articles include Virutuoso’s 2025 Luxe report, the best overwater bungalows in the Maldives, picking the right safari and 10 restaurants worth planning a trip around.

Also articles on Botswana, Greece, Switzerland, Madeira, Italy, dude ranches and safari lodges.

The informational articles include advice on how to score a first class upgrade, traveling with pets and how to avoid the crowds during Rome’s Jubilee year.

I hope you had a fun New Year’s Eve! Looking ahead to 2025 I wish you a year full of fun adventures with your family and friends!

Warmly,

ADVENTURING IN ST. MORITZ

Our clients are going to Switzerland later this month.

The trip is a combination of business and leisure. He will be attending the World Economic Forum in Davos and they are celebrating their recent wedding with a romantic stay in St. Moritz.

This trip will be full of contrasts, which is one of the ingredients that I believe contributes to an exceptionally memorable vacation.

St. Moritz is a playground for wintertime – so many outdoor adventures…

  • epic downhill skiing
  • cross country skiing
  • the chic St. Moritz Snow Polo tournament
  • skating on the lake
  • snowshoeing to a private spot for a fondue picnic
  • a horse drawn carriage ride through the 1,000 year old pine trees in the Engadin Valley to an exclusive caviar tasting at a family’s third generation owned shop

And for the very adventurous a steep downhill toboggan run.

Whether you love the adrenaline of speed or you simply love trying new experiences, the Muottas Muragl toboggan run should be on your list.

First hop on the funicular railroad with your sledge, taking it to the starting point up on the mountain.

The panoramic views over the lake and mountains will be a distraction as you are winding your way through 20 turns on the 2.5+ mile track, dropping almost 3,000 feet in altitude as you go.

My college kids would love it!

Afterwards, make your way to your chosen après ski spot. One on my personal list just a bit outside of St. Moritz – Gondolezza. Dine on Champagne and truffle fondue and raclette topped with bacon cubes and pear in a retired wooden cable car that oozes coziness.

Whether you are seeking a romantic winter getaway or an adventurous family ski vacation, St. Moritz will envelop you in its winter charm and chic atmosphere.
