WHERE TO NEXT?
Dear Traveler,
After we arrived to our hotel last night, the Ritz Carlton in Georgetown, Jessie and I set off on foot to explore. Lots of stopping at boutiques on M Street, then we walked along the Potomac River all the way to the Lincoln Memorial and on the Mall to the Washington Monument.
There were school groups, people playing volleyball, soccer and softball, running groups and lots of bikers. DC is such a vibrant city and I always love coming for a visit.
Today it is raining. Pouring actually. Looking on the bright side – why is it so great to be in Washington DC when it is raining? There are so many museums! After our Georgetown food tour today we have many museums on our list!
I’m a bit late getting this out, so I must go. More on DC next week after I arrive in Spain!
Last week’s links to shoes for touring in rainy weather were super popular! And so very relevant for my day in DC today.

MAIÒLICA

Today I am inspired by many upcoming client summer adventures to Greece. Why? Because I am in Washington DC and it’s pouring rain outside, so photos of Greek islands look dreamy.
One couple will be going to Athens, Sifnos, Paros and Santorini. All incredible destinations on their own and they will be exploring each one.
One of the restaurants they selected is Maiòlica on Sifnos. It’s a beachfront restaurant located in Platis Gialos (which means wide shore) known for its innovative seafood dishes, combining fresh local ingredients with creative presentation.
The culinary presentation is complimented by the stunning beachfront setting. See more of the beautiful photos on their instagram. It’s a perfect spot to end a perfect day on the island.
Why add Sifnos to your Greece itinerary?
- Sifnos is more under the radar, not nearly as known or frequented as Santorini, and a lot fewer Americans.
- It’s great for hiking – some trails lead to secluded beaches where you can jump off rocks into the water. Choose a more relaxing 3 mile route or a challenging 9 miler.
- It gives you an opportunity to the meet welcoming locals who farm the land (for the restaurants you dine at).
- Sifnos’ most famous descendant is Nicholas Tselementes, who wrote the first Greek cookbook in 1910. His legacy of culinary excellence remains.
- The views – ancient villages, white washed Cycladic houses, gorgeous coastlines and local farms.
Note: there is no airport on the island, so a ferry arrival is typical.

🌟 In April, our client celebrated her birthday with a girlfriend getaway at Castle Hot Springs in Arizona. On her return she shared…
“The food was absolutely amazing – I cannot say enough good things about it. The spa services were also fantastic, as were the hot springs. Everyone who went on the trip had a fantastic time – even those initially weary of the remote location and rustic atmosphere.”
Why is Castle Hot Springs so special?
- Castle Hot Springs is an all-inclusive resort with limited guests, which makes the experience feel intimate and private.
- Accommodations include stunning “Spring Bungalows” with private outdoor tubs fed directly by the hot springs. Another option is the “Top of the Lodge” with 3 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms and a wraparound deck.
- Meals are farm-to-table from its on-site organic farm. The chef’s tasting menu rotates nightly to feature the day’s harvest.
Do as much or as little as you like?
- Enjoy yoga, meditation, hiking, guided farm tours and a via ferrata.
- With ten private hiking trails spanning 1,100 acres, guests can immerse themselves in the Sonoran Desert’s beauty.
- Relax in a setting that promotes unplugging — no TVs in rooms, minimal cell service and no kids under 16.
‼️Don’t miss…. the geothermal springs, the centerpiece of the resort. There are multiple soaking pools, terraced into the canyon surrounded by palm springs and rugged desert cliffs. Abundantly scenic and serene and perfect day or night.
When we asked for the favorite memory of the trip, “soaking in the hot springs at night and star gazing.”
