Our story

Crossing the bridge in Sevilla, on our kids’ first trip to Spain.
Even from our home in Hanover, NH I enjoy connecting with people from other cultures. I’ve been on the Advisory Board of The Dartmouth International Friendship Family program for 7 years—welcoming international students to share our culture and learning about theirs.
Through my experience in international organizations, my personal travels and life in Madrid, I’ve learned how local connections and knowledge can make travel feel like a personalized adventure. In the summer of 2019, I founded Truvay Travel in order to create cultural connections and tailored travel for curious people, like you.
My travel style doesn’t quite fit neatly in a box. You may find me at a trendy new restaurant one night and the next day eating exotic foods from a street market. I love staying at 5* boutique hotels and camping under the stars. The common theme in my travel is curiosity; I’m always open to exploring new places and experiences.
In 2017, I initiated a family sabbatical with my three kids to Madrid for a year. My supportive husband remained in the US to work but visited frequently. We lived like local Spaniards. Our kids attended a local Spanish school, took the bus, we befriended our local baker and butcher, joined clubs and sports teams, ate lunch at 3pm and integrated ourselves fully into Spanish life. Over time, we all made deep friendships, spoke fluent Spanish, and took advantage of the incredible culture, food and art that surrounded us.

My goal at Truvay Travel is to provide personal service that delights clients. I’m focused on building long-term relationships. I’m your personal enchufe—Spanish slang which means “friend with connections” who helps you learn about unknown places, experience journeys you never dreamed possible and return home with unforgettable memories.
When I’m not focused on planning adventures, you can find me cheering on our kids’ sports teams. Otherwise I’m likely practicing Inferno Hot Pilates with my girlfriends, trying out a new recipe from my latest travels or walking our pup Tigger in the woods.
Truvay Travel is rooted in:

Feeding melon to a baby elephant north of Chiang Mai, Thailand
Passionate
about our clients. about travel. about life
Be open minded
insatiably curious about new people, places
There is always a way
be relentlessly resourceful
Integrity
do the right thing even when it’s hard
Gracious
to all – clients, colleagues, suppliers
If these match up with your beliefs, then we’re probably the right fit for you!

Our impact
Travel transforms lives
Exploring the world isn’t easily accessible to everyone. Lack of financial resources and the fear of trying new things are two obstacles which keep some people at home.
Truvay Travel was founded on the core belief that increasing connections between people in different cultures leads to greater understanding and tolerance in our world.
As part of our mission, we will help support an annual, need-based scholarship for at least one local student who has never traveled outside of the U.S. to participate in an organized trip abroad. In return, if the student is willing, we will share his or her story with the Truvay Travel community.
Details of the application and selection process will be announced in 2022.
