WHERE TO NEXT?
Dear Traveler,
“Time with all of you is something I treasure.”
That was a message a good friend, who we don’t see nearly as much as we’d like to, sent us after we had dinner together this week.
It was such a beautiful way to convey how joyful it is to spend time connecting with friends.
Lately with the craziness of an upcoming graduation and many end of year events, there are a lot of get togethers. I hope you are making time to spend moments with your good friends too.
On Monday Jessie and I are off to Madrid. We are looking forward to being with our favorite Spanish friends we made while on our sabbatical a few years ago.
While we are in town it just so happens that Real Madrid is playing in the final game of the Eurocopa Championship. Even though the game is not in Madrid (it’s in London), the city will be full of life and over the top Spanish soccer fans. I’m not sure where we’ll be watching the game, but I know it is going to be a great time!
Of course I’ll be be doing some scouting too – hotel site visits and meeting guides who will take you around on your next trip to Madrid. I also hope to make it to the speakeasy, Jack’s Library, that I talked about in a previous newsletter.
Last week’s most popular article was the BBC’s A solution for working parents who want to travel.
This week’s inspirational articles include the smart way to turn a vacation into relocation, 36 hours in Menorca, the best long distance alpine hike you’ve never heard of and the 25 essential pasta dishes to eat in Italy.
The informational articles include the importance of booking your airport parking space ahead of time (read this!), how couples can survive their retirement – together, and why outdoor adventure is important for women as they age.
I hope you are enjoying a wonderful start to what is feeling more like summer!
Warmly,

KRONENHALLE
“Dine beneath a village scene by Marc Chagall, gaze at suns and moons by Joan Miró, take in the southern lights by Pierre Bonnard or wonder at the dramatic skies by Georges Braque.”
In Zurich you don’t have to be in a museum to experience masterful art.
Instead you can be at what many call “the world’s best bar.”
Before World War II, the Kronenhalle was a rendezvous point for actors, musicians, authors and artists. Later it became a refuge for European artists seeking safety from the Nazis in Switzerland. When they couldn’t afford their bar tab, they would give a piece of art work instead. Today it’s a great place to have a cocktail sitting next to an original Picasso, Chagall, Matisse or Miró.
This summer we have many clients traveling to and through Switzerland. The location of Kronenhalle in Zurich is the perfect spot if you are simply spending the night before a flight home or will be there for a few days of exploring.
Make sure to read the Rules of Good Practice and Dress Code before your visit.
The concierge at one of my most loved Zurich hotels said, “The Bar at the Kronenhalle is one my favorite bars, good for a quiet and relaxing time. It’s one of the most famous and oldest in Zurich.”
If you are flying to Zurich, I want to remind you of my flight hack for upgrading cabins, written about in this previous newsletter.

🌟 At the end of last year, the W Edinburgh opened in the heart of St. James Quarter, in the center of the city. The hotel features a striking nine-story ribbon building, bronze façade and spectacular rooftop!
Why visit W Edinburgh?
- The interior design. It incorporates elements of fire and water, with dark charred wood paneling and copper accents. Consider the hotel’s Wow Suite, featuring a round super-king-sized bed, a private terrace and sauna.
- The range of delicious dining options. They include Sushi Samba, blending Japanese, Brazilian and Peruvian cuisines and the W Lounge offering Gaelic cuisine with panoramic views. Get drinks João’s Place, a Brazilian-inspired speakeasy.
- The views! Relax with a cocktail gazing out on 360 degree views of the city from above. Perhaps while sitting in one of their igloos.
- There is a state-of-the-art fitness center and Away Spa in the hotel. Perfect for before or after touring around town.
- The ideal location. Walk to shops (St. James Quarter is full of the best), restaurants, pop ups and evening entertainment spots.
Of course it comes with the usual perks and VIP treatment when booking your stay through Truvay Travel.
P.S. if looking for a bit of a workout with a view – walk or run up close-by Calton Hill or Arthur’s Seat.
